Three Questions With: Peter Marchant

In recognition of his drive and dedication, Kforce has named Peter Marchant as its Consultant of the Quarter. Marchant currently serves as senior federal tax analyst with Millipore, a leading provider of cutting-edge technologies, tools and services for bioscience research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working as a finance and accounting consultant?

“What you can learn [as a consultant] and the experiences that you gain are truly the motivating factor behind showing up for work every day.”

What is your approach to assignments that allows you to fit in with and perform so effectively for clients?

“Positive attitude. That’s it. Period. If you are a negative person you aren’t going to be able to work effectively with other people. [As a consultant] a lot of the time you are working with people you’ve never met before and they will thrive off of your positive attitude.”

What advice would you give other consultants to help them maximize their careers, both in terms of professional development and with Kforce?

“It comes back to learning experiences. When you [are placed] with a company…you’re not only getting paid, you’re basically getting an education. There is a lot of stuff they don’t teach you in school that you have to learn on the job. As far as advice, I would say learn as much as you can. Nothing is done the same way in every company, so pay attention and learn everything you can from each client, then take those skills and use them throughout your career.”
